As you cruise Highway 29 in the Napa Valley wine country, you will pass through several charming small towns, and among the most picturesque of them is St. Helena. Coined “Napa Valley’s Main Street”, St. Helena is a little more than a one-hour drive from San Francisco. St. Helena is a truly special place to visit, rooted in family-owned small businesses. It lives up to its name with boutique shops, delicious restaurants, wineries, beautiful scenery, and so much more. It is the perfect destination for a weekend getaway.
The Clif Family has made Saint Helena home for the past 20 years, opening our downtown wine tasting room here in 2011 and our award-winning Food Truck in 2014. We love the energy of this community, and we have always welcomed both locals and first-time visitors with open arms. You’ll often spot familiar faces relaxing with a glass of wine on the Clif Family Patio or gathered at our Tasting Bar, particularly on Wednesdays when we offer our now-famous Street Food Napa Valley menus. With the Culinary Institute of America’s Greystone campus just down the street, we are fortunate to be part of a community filled with incredible culinary talent and Michelin-starred restaurants.
What makes St. Helena so top-notch?
A bustling yet intimate downtown is lined with boutique clothing shops, art galleries, tasting rooms, wine bars, bakeries, coffee shops, and delicious food. You can grab your outdoor adventure gear at Sportago, the English muffin that Oprah made famous at The Model Bakery, or a delicious cup of coffee from the newly opened Sam’s General Store.
St. Helena also boasts one of California’s oldest continuously operating single-screen movie theaters, where you can catch a new release while enjoying a glass of Napa Valley wine with your Orville Redenbacher popcorn!
One of the things that makes St. Helena even more special is the community of people that make up this town. If you are looking for a little local Napa Valley flavor, this is the place to find it. Pull up a seat at any of the town’s coffee shops, restaurants, bars, or the Clif Family tasting room, and you’re likely to find yourself next to a local ready to share stories, history, and a bit of St. Helena’s unique charm.
