Summer Shipping FAQ

Wine and heat aren’t friends — so during the warm months we ship a little differently to make sureevery bottle reaches you in perfect shape. Here are the questions we hear most
Do you ship wine during the summer? Plus

Yes. We ship year-round, and during warm-weather months we use a dedicated process — insulated packaging, ice packs, weather monitoring, and faster shipping when it’s hot — so you can order with confidence any time of year.

How do you keep my wine from getting too hot in transit? Plus

Every warm-weather order ships in a premium insulated box with ice packs — essentially a portable cooler. We also monitor the weather along your entire delivery route, not just here in Napa.

How long does the insulated packaging stay cool? Plus

The packaging is engineered to hold safe temperatures for 5 to 7 days in transit, which covers the vast majority of routes without any need for refrigerated transport.

What happens if it’s really hot along my delivery route? Plus

If temperatures anywhere on your route are forecast to reach 80°F or higher, we automatically upgrade your shipment to overnight delivery so your wine moves quickly past the heat. You don’t need to do anything.

Can I delay my shipment until the weather cools down? Plus

Absolutely. If you’d rather wait out a heat wave, we’re happy to set a later ship date or hold your order. Just reach out to our team and we’ll arrange it.

Will my Wine Drop club shipment still go out in summer? Plus

Yes — Wine Drop shipments follow the same warm-weather protocol. If you’d like to adjust the timing of an upcoming shipment, you can push it or change your frequency anytime, or let us know and we’ll help.

What should I do when my wine arrives? Plus

Bring it indoors and out of direct sun as soon as you can, and give chilled or cellar-temp bottles a little time to settle. Then pour, gather your people, and enjoy.

Is the packaging recyclable? Plus

Yes — 100% curbside recyclable. Both the outer box and the inner thermal liners go right into your recycling bin. The liners are made from recycled plastic bottles, and the design has been recognized for sustainability by the Cold Chain Global Forum.
