2024 Sonoma Valley Grenache
Bright ruby in the glass, and an even split between fruit and the place it came from. Juicy plum, raspberry, and wet stone on the nose lead into a layered palate, with fine-grained tannins making a smooth entry and a vibrant acidity carrying real length through the finish. The Grenache comes from Steel Plow Vineyard in the heart of Sonoma Valley in Kenwood, farmed by Phil Coturri — one of the people who made organic viticulture normal in Sonoma — on a CCOF certified organic ranch planted entirely to Rhône varietals. Hand-harvested in the cool morning hours and aged fourteen months in neutral French oak, so nothing gets in the fruit’s way. Good with savory dishes, rich sauces, and anything chocolatey for dessert.
