Recipe by the Clif Family Culinary Team
Yield: 4 Patty Melts
INGREDIENTS:
24 oz ground beef, formed into 4-6oz patties
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 jar Clif Family Savory Onion Jam
1/4 stick of butter
Cooking oil, as needed
8 slices rye bread
8 slices sharp cheddar cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS:
Shape ground beef into 4-6oz balls and press flat to make your patty. Season with salt and pepper.
Preheat skillet or griddle until hot, drizzle a little cooking oil on the surface and place patties down, working in batches if necessary. Using a metal spatula, score each patty with a crosshatch grid to prevent shrinking and to help cook more evenly.
Flip once browned and cook though on the other side until cooked through.
Transfer patties to a paper towel lined plate or rack to drain excess grease.
Clean pan.
Spread mayo on rye bread and top with Savory Onion Jam on both pieces.
Place cooked patty along with 2 slices of cheddar cheese, close sandwich, and fry in the cleaned skillet on medium-low heat with butter, lightly pressing down on the sandwich to ensure even browning. Once golden-brown color is a achieved, flip onto the other side and continue to cook until the bread is browned on both sides and cheese is melted.
Serve whole or sliced in half.
