The soil is decomposed volcanic ash — tuff — which drains fast and offers the vines almost nothing, so they root deep, stay low in vigor, and make small berries of real quality. You taste all of that: fruit-forward aromatics with floral and earthy tones, blackberry, violets, and cedar, then a big, structured palate with long-lasting tannins and a fruit-filled finish. Hand-harvested in the cool morning hours, hand-sorted before and after the de-stemmer, and aged 20 months in 90% new French oak, with the winemaker pulling the best barrels for this single-vineyard bottling.
